Under his educational initiative, Abdulaziz Yari, representing the Zamfara West senatorial district, has extended university scholarships to 60 secondary school graduates. This announcement was made by Sha’aya Sarkin-Fawa, the coordinator of the Zamfara West senatorial district office, during a press briefing in Gusau on Thursday.
The scholarships are specifically tailored for students from Anka, Bakura, Bukkuyum, Gummi Maradun, and Talata-Mafara local government areas, constituting the Zamfara West senatorial district. Each of these areas will nominate 10 students who excelled in their senior secondary school examinations to be sponsored by the senator for university education.
"We have procured 60 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for the beneficiaries. All the 60 beneficiaries to be selected under this project will be sponsored from 100 Level up till the completion of their various degree programmes,'' stated Mr. Sarkin-Fawa.
He further highlighted that one of the senator's key policies is to promote free education, especially for the children of the less privileged and orphans within the constituency.
The distribution of the JAMB forms has already commenced, facilitated through the local government coordinators in the six LGAs, ensuring the selection of qualified candidates for the scholarship program.
Additionally, Mr. Sarkin-Fawa emphasized that aside from educational scholarships, the lawmaker has more intervention programs in the pipeline as part of his constituency projects. These initiatives aim to promote social protection and development among the constituents, reflecting Yari's commitment to the overall welfare and advancement of the community.
